Our Mission

The Blue Ridge Regional Hospital Foundation is the fund-raising and friend-raising arm of the hospital. Working with individuals, businesses and private foundations, we will improve the health of our community.

Our Legacy

Blue Ridge Regional Hospital Foundation was founded in 1995, and has since funded over $6.4 million in grants. Since its inception, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital Foundation has raised funds to support many programs and facilities improvements within the hospital and throughout the community, most recently the completion of the hospital's new clinical wing.

The BRRH Foundation's current funding focus is the expansion and renovation of the Lab at BRRH. The hospital’s lab plays an integral role in the diagnosis and treatment of virtually every patient, not only in the hospital but in the medical practices the lab serves. The lab has been in its current location since 1999 and since that time has experienced significant volume and staffing increases. Last year alone, the lab processed over a half-million tests for 43 different health care providers. We simply can no longer retrofit the current space to meet our needs. Most importantly, lack of space prevents us from upgrading existing equipment and adding new equipment.

Another important initiative of the Foundation is Toe River Project Access (TRPA), which provides access to medical, dental, vision and prescription assistance for low-income uninsured adults in Mitchell and Yancey counties. The People We Serve

Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and Foundation serves a diverse population of residents in Mitchell, Yancey, southwestern Avery, and northern McDowell Counties. Healthcare is provided to all people in need of medical assistance regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin or ability to pay. In fiscal year 2007, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital provided over $11.7 million in uncompensated care.
